This is Just to Say
Quote for thought and inspiration
"Writing letters is the purist form of friendship humans can possibly express. We capture ourselves in a moment, and then we give the moment to someone else."

Today we started the day with prayer to the Holy Spirit, and a poem by William Carlos Williams as a warm up for today's letter writing. The following is the poem and a video that is very clever.
This is Just to Say
By William Carlos Williams
I have eaten
the plums
that were in
the icebox
and which
you were probably
saving
for breakfast
forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so cold.

If you can, try to play around with this poem and write your own parody go ahead and have fun with it. Here's one I wrote a while ago and sent to my cousin The poem is actually part of letter that included an old photograph of that infamous day.
Dear Linda,
I’m sorry
about the dress,
the stink,
and the embarrassment,
after breaking
a rotten egg
on your new Easter dress.
We were having fun
in the apple orchard
being curious kids,
when we thought we’d
check out grandpa’s
homemade oven
built into the hill.
Little did we know
that inside were
real chicken eggs.
It was Easter after all.
I picked one up
ready to inspect when
Oops! It broke in the
palm of my hand.
I shook off the yolk
and the ooze
and it landed on your dress.
I don’t think I ever said,
I’m sorry
Love
Your cousin,
Nancy
When searching for ideas for letter writing we can always go back to some of the greatest saints for inspiration.
St. Teresa of Avila ( I love the letters to her biological sisters)
St. Ignatius of Layola
St. Paul
St, Catherine of Sienna ( brave & outspoken)
